Art guide
Send us the best file you have. These notes explain what prints cleanly on small, curved and textured items, so your mockup comes back right the first time.
File types
| Best | Vector: AI, EPS, PDF (vector), SVG. Fonts outlined or included. |
|---|---|
| Fine | PNG or TIFF at 300 dpi or higher at print size, transparent background. |
| Needs redraw | Low-resolution JPGs, screenshots, files pulled from a website or social profile. We can redraw simple logos; complex art may carry an art charge, quoted before we start. |
One-color and two-color items
Lighters, pipes, grinders, jars and most printed items use spot-color pad or screen printing, or laser etching. That means solid shapes only: no photographs, no gradients, no drop shadows, no fine halftones. Two-color art needs clean separation between the colors with no overlaps that require tight registration.
Full-color items
Rolling paper booklets, match books, stickers, door hangers and business cards print in full color (CMYK). Photos and gradients are fine here. Set up files with 0.125" bleed and keep text 0.125" inside the trim.
Minimum sizes
- Line weight: 0.75 pt or heavier for print; 1 pt for etching on wood.
- Text: 6 pt minimum on paper products; 8 pt on lighters and small hard goods.
- Negative space: gaps smaller than 0.5 mm fill in on pad-printed items.
Color
Each product lists its stock ink colors. Pantone matching is available on most printed items for an added fee and extra time, and isn't available on rush orders. We don't print a color that matches the product body (white on a white lighter, for example); assorted-color orders skip those pieces.
Templates
Need the exact print area for an item? Ask in your quote notes and we'll send a template for the product and location you picked.
Logos and rights
By sending art you confirm you have the right to reproduce it. We don't print trademarked characters or logos you don't own.
